Privacy Policy

AfterSwitch ("the App") is built and maintained by WellBuilt. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your choices.

What We Collect

The App reads device settings from your Android phone. This includes:

System, Secure, and Global settings — key-value pairs from Android's Settings providers (display brightness, keyboard preferences, navigation mode, accessibility options, etc.)
Device info — manufacturer, model, Android version, SDK level, security patch date, One UI version (Samsung devices)
Installed apps — package names, app labels, version numbers, and whether the app is a system app
Default apps — which apps are set as your default browser, keyboard, launcher, SMS, dialer, and camera

This data is collected only when you tap the Scan button. The App does not scan your device in the background.

What We Do NOT Collect

No passwords, PINs, or biometric data
No contacts, messages, call logs, or photos
No location data
No browsing history
No advertising IDs or tracking identifiers
No analytics or crash reporting (no third-party SDKs)

How Data Is Stored

On your device: Your settings profile is stored locally using AsyncStorage. It stays on your phone and is not transmitted unless you choose to export or save to the cloud.

Cloud backup (optional): If you save your profile to the cloud, it is stored in Firebase Firestore under your Google account. Only you can access your saved profiles. We do not share, sell, or analyze your profile data.

JSON export (optional): You can export your profile as a JSON file and share it however you like (email, Google Drive, Bluetooth, etc.). Once exported, the file is under your control.

QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES Permission

The App uses the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission to read the list of installed apps on your device. This is required by Android 11+ to enumerate installed packages. The app list is included in your settings profile so you can see which apps are missing when setting up a new phone. This data is never sent to any server without your explicit action (cloud save or JSON export).

WRITE_SETTINGS Permission

The App requests WRITE_SETTINGS to restore System-level settings (screen timeout, font size, etc.) when you use the Restore feature. This permission is granted through Android's standard permission dialog. No settings are changed without your explicit confirmation.

ADB Permission (Optional)

For full auto-restore of Secure and Global settings, the companion desktop app can grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS via ADB. This is entirely optional and requires you to physically connect your phone to a computer. Without this, the App provides guided restore with deep links to the relevant settings screens.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. Period. No third-party analytics, no ad networks, no data brokers.

Data Deletion

You can delete your local profile by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. Cloud-saved profiles can be deleted from within the App on the Cloud tab. When you delete a cloud profile, it is permanently removed from our servers.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
